Across The Border is a documentary which explores the emotional turmoil that migrant workers who migrated into South Africa go through. It explores the difficulties that come with coming into a new country after leaving your home with hopes for a better working environment and living experience. Dealing with issues such as leaving home countries alone in pursuit of economic and health prosperity. They then find themselves becoming exposed to unfair treatment and low paying jobs just to survive a life in South Africa, and not having a strong support system does not make matters any better for them. The documentary showcases the story of Hilda Maruza. How was her experience with migrating to South Africa and what can we learn from them?
SYNOPSIS
THE CHAIR is a telenovela that follows the life of Bhekumuzi Makhathini, the mayor of KwaZulu Natal, through the perspective of Sindisiwe Ndlovu, one of his housekeepers. When King Zizwezonke and his royal advisor Thembinkosi (Sindisiwe’s father) mysteriously die after the refusal to partake in the selling of parts of the Zulu land under the Nguni Trust, Sindisiwe is motivated to use her journalistic knowledge to get behind the story of their deaths and expose Bhekumuzi and his corrupt acts. She works her way inside the presidential residence as a housekeeper after learning from her research on the subject that the deal is being orchestrated by the ruling King Nkosana and government officials. After she begins working there, she learns more about who Bhekumuzi is as a husband, a father, a businessman, and a president and this is seen by our audience too. The audience is also taken on a journey that reveals all the turmoil that goes on around being the president of a country, and indeed revealing that it is a seat that not many people can handle.
